  • Evenstar Houses of Healing is Mary Ann Copson’s blog about the multi-dimensional nature of healing and the journey to health and wellness. It is not really about the journey from being sick to being not sick, but rather about the leap from being just OK to thriving and flourishing. And that journey can start no matter where you are.

Biography

When I started Evenstar back in 1987, I was following a vision for creating a place of healing. I have to admit that reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy in my teenage years heavily influenced me. Something about the story struck a remembrance in me.

My focus in these stories was never on the so-called central themes. I was drawn to Arwen. Arwen was the daughter of an Elvin king and she was the intended of the hero of the story. He was mortal and she was Elvin (immortal).

The Elvin society represented a multi-dimensional aspect of life that was destined to pass out of the world of man. Arwen was the Evenstar of her people – the last vestige of these multi-dimensional aspects – and as she joined in marriage with Aragorn (the hero), she would bring the remembrance of this mulit-dimensional possibility into the consciousness of man.

In the trilogy of The Lord of The Rings, the Houses of Healing stood in the sixth circle of Minas Tirith, surrounded by lawns and trees, where the healers of Gondor did their work. In their Houses of Healing, people were treated using the merging of the multi-dimensional ancient wisdom and the knowledge of men.

It was the ancient wisdom of things unseen that captured my attention. My focus for Evenstar has been to keep it grounded in the art of non-local ancient wisdom and intuition and marry it to the science of true medicine.

When I refer to medicine, I am not talking about conventional medical treatments. That approach is beyond my scope of practice. I respect and honor conventional medicine for what it can do, but I also know that there are additional medicines that are needed for healing.

Native people often refer to medicine as something that gives power and completion to a person. And this is the definition that I bring to Evenstar. My intention for Evenstar has been always to create it as a true House of Healing.

In my vision, a true House of Healing engages with healing from a holographic, integrated, holist, evolutionary perspective. A House of Healing takes a multi-dimensional, multi-level approach to bringing the body back into balance. Disease and illness is not really the focus, but rather building balance and physiological coherence in the body and looking to return the body to full functional capacity and then move it beyond into thriving and flourishing – that is the intention. Along the way, symptoms of unbalance are resolved.

Healing is an art and a science - but even more than that - it is a journey into the depths of yourself to retrieve that remembrance of who you really are. When you go to claim that remembrance enter the doors of a true House of Healing for you.

I am a healer.

My most fervent wish is that I can develop a strong enough energy field that, when people come to work with me, I can hold open the invitation for them to remember and embrace the wholeness of who they really are. When people remember who they really are they will remember that they can bring about the life for themselves that they really want.

While they are remembering, we can do a lot of things to support that process and that act as bridges to go from where they are to where they want to be. Hence, my fascination with degrees, certifications and trainings. I have a lot of them. I used to be a little embarrassed about it (I was insecure or something) but now I think it is pretty cool to have all that experience. And I have a growing list of other “bridges” I want to learn about.

For me, the saddest experience is to see dreams wither. And, the most awesome experience in the world is to see dreams go from mere desires to reality. Your dreams are your inspired gifts to the world and your pathway to bringing yourself to fruition – they are your ultimate healer.
